Historic Bars & Pubs by Liz Fisher

About this guidebook

Prague is a beer drinker's paradise, and many of the pubs and bars are located in historic buildings.  You will find cellar bars, beer halls and early 20th century cafes where you can relax and enjoy beer brewed on premises.

The Brewery and Restaurant u Fleku is is a complex of buildings which can seat 1,200 people.  The brewery was first documented in the 15th century and began to prosper in 1762.  The pub is well known for its fresh dark lager which has been brewed since 1843, and the recipe has been modified only slightly.  You can take an interesting brewery tour and enjoy 500 year old building architecture.

U Vejvodu Pub and Beer Hall is located right in the heart of the Old Town of Prague in a historic building dating from 1403.  The pub sells fresh tank beer - Pilsner Urquell.

House at the Golden Tiger was originally built as a gothic burgher house in the 14th century, and its gate is the only reminder of the Gothic architecture nowadays.  The pub was visited regularly by famous Czech writer, Bohumil Hrabal.

Restaurant U Pinkasu was founded by Jakub Pinkas in 1843 and was the first restaurant in Prague to serve lager Pilsner Urquell on draught.
