Get in

The nearest airports are Düsseldorf Airport [1], about 30km/20mi away and the smaller Dortmund Airport [2], also about 30km away.

Long-distance train services stop in nearby Bochum and Essen, both of which can be reached by public transport in 25.30 minutes from Hattingen.

Suburban railway S3 connects Oberhausen and Hattingen via Essen and runs every 30 minutes, Light Rail service 308 goes to Bochum and runs every 15 minutes Mon-Fri, every 30 minutes on Sun- and Holidays. Both terminate at the transit hub "Hattingen Mitte" at the southern edge of the historic centre, which also serves local bus routes.

Get around

Walking is the primary mode of transport in the historic centre.

Buses serve Hattingen and cost 2,80€/ Ride (1,70€ for up to 4 stops) or 6,00€ to Essen and Bochum.
