Galapagos Islands Luxury Cruise: 6-Day Tour with a Naturalist Aboard the \'Odyssey\'
This 6-day cruise through the Galapagos Islands was tailor-made for wildlife enthusiasts with a taste for luxury. Sail around the western side of the UNESCO-listed archipelago aboard the ‘Odyssey,’ a first-class motor yacht that feels like a hotel and accommodates only 16 passengers. Explore Santiago, where Darwin spent much of his time, as well as remote reaches like Fernandina and Isabela. Hike to breeding sites for sea lions, penguins, fur seals and countless birds — including the famous flightless cormorant, considered a ‘holy grail of evolution.’ Beaches, volcanoes, tidal pools and rocky islets are all part of your exploration.

This 6-day cruise takes you into the western section of the Galapagos Islands, a UNESCO World Heritage site of 19 islands located off the Ecuadorian coast. Embark on a route that veers from the mainstream exploration of the islands, and do this in style aboard the Odyssey, a luxury motor yacht. Its engines provide a cruising speed of 12 knots (over 13 mph/22 kph), and have been designed to reduce the impact on the Galapagos ecosystem. (See Itinerary below for details. The tour begins with pickup from Baltra Airport and ends with drop-off at San Cristobal Airport.)????

The spacious yacht is fully appointed and accommodates a max of 16 passengers only. Unwind on one of the four decks (uncovered and shaded) and read about the islands in the living room–library. In the elegant dining room, enjoy your snacks and buffet-style meals, beginning with lunch on the first day until breakfast on the day of departure. Water, tea and coffee are provided, while cocktails and other beverages are available for purchase from the bar on board.

You’ll appreciate the first-class details: polished wood, upholstered seating, and the wooded flooring of the open-air sun deck that protects your bare feet from burning. Massage your sore muscles in the whirlpool. In the evenings, your Galapagos National Park–certified naturalist guide provides briefings using a laptop, TV and/or DVD equipment. ??

The yacht’s twin or single cabins have been designed with hotel-level comfort in mind. With parquet floors and private bathrooms, twin cabins average 215 square feet (20 square meters) in size and are located in the quieter upper front half of the yacht, away from the engine room, facilitating a good night’s rest during overnight passages. Beds in the twin cabins are matrimonial-style or can be converted into a double configuration. Plus, the main and upper deck cabins face seaward and feature panoramic windows that open. Or, enjoy the privacy of a single cabin, located in the lower deck partly below the waterline (porthole window only). Enjoy privately controlled air-conditioning in any cabin you select. ?

?Receive attentive service from the crew throughout your journey. To reach the islands, you’ll usually disembark your yacht at the anchorage-site and board a dinghy for the final stretch to land. Your crew is trained to assist you in and out of the boat as needed.
