Maximize your time in Scotland by upgrading to include a 3- or 7-day sightseeing pass that gives you free entry to 90 Scottish historical sites and landmarks.

Make your way to the tragic battle site near Inverness in the Scottish Highlands. The short but brutal hand-to-hand Battle of Culloden took place in 1746 and marked the final defeat for the clansmen fighting for the Jacobite cause.

Upon admission, enter the visitor center and immerse yourself in the horror of the battle, during which more than 1,200 people lost their lives. Explore the exhibits and learn more about the circumstances that led to the Battle of Culloden, as well as the lasting effect the battle had on not just the Highlands, but the whole of the United Kingdom.

Hear accounts from characters who were involved in the grisly events and view weaponry and other artifacts that were recovered from the site. Gain a greater understanding of how the brave warriors would have felt during an immersive 360-degree film. Then ascend to the rooftop to view the battlefield from a fresh perspective.

Walk down onto the field and get a sense of how the battle played out. Feel the somber atmosphere that engulfs the site and look out for the memorial and for clan markers, which act as reminders of the many people that were killed here.

Take as long as you wish exploring the site independently. When done, you?ll emerge with a new understanding of the events of the battle.
